hold yer horses
July 30, 2007
Lately, I realized that I've been too much in a hurry. In a hurry to get rich. In a hurry to make it big. In a hurry to find love. In a hurry to do things.
I've resorted to act on impulse a lot. I always take the first feasible option that comes my way. I still believe that this is a lot better than not acting at all. Doing this, at least things get done. I used to be the guy that dreams on but does nothing. But like they say, "too much of anything is never a good thing". I better hold it down a bit, or face the consequences.
We know that life is short, but I think I still have a long way to go.
my stupid mind
It's funny how, when the higher the stakes are, the more our minds give us trouble for it.
Like, say, giving a speech.
When we talk to someone one on one, there's no problem at all. We get our point across very well. We don't get nervous, and we get to be ourselves. Whereas, when we do it in front of a thousand people, pressure mounts up, our hands get sweaty, our hearts pound with the beat of a trance record, and we can think of a thousand possible reasons to avoid doing it.
Why do our minds seem to work against us? Why does it mess up when we need it to step up? Is this all that a couple million years of evolution has come up with: a brain that's too dumb to realize what's important and what's not? I mean, it's not like we didn't eat our vegetables (a.k.a. "brain food") and now our brains are getting their payback. I just don't get it.
And we say, "It's all in the mind". If that's so, then we're all in big trouble.
Don't you agree that it's a bit weird?
I guess that's why we sometimes need our hearts to make our big decisions.
nawala phone ko.. for 2 hrs
July 24, 2007whew!! nawala phone ko.. naiwan sa CR habang tumatae ako. buti nalang ang nakapulot binalik din nya saken.. bait nga e…

adik places fourth
First there was Chris B. #2 placer in the ECE board. Now there's Joel.
We found out yesterday that Joel "Adik" Ong placed #4 in the Architecture board exam which he took a few weeks ago. There was no doubt that he would do good, but placing #4?!? Idol!!!
Some of you have met this guy. He's the eat all you can (highschool band) bandmate who went on to be a mini rock god in Cebu. Remember Melophobic (his current band)? It's the band wherein the spotlight wasn't on the vocalist, rather, it was pointed on the lead guitarist? Yeah, that's Joe.
He used to be class validictorian during grade school. Then rock and roll and allegedly drugs (hehehe) messed up his high school grades. Now, he's able to balance and excel in both fields.
La lang, I'm just so proud of this friend's achievement. After all, it's not everyday your friend places #4 in the Arki board.
Cool.
few things
July 23, 2007After a month of being away, things are getting a bit back on track. I've finally dribbled the ball, hung out with friends, joked with the family, eat rice on a daily basis, drunk with friends, eat fresh kinilaw, and lots more.
It was really surprising how some friends have been extra supportive with some important stuff. I'm not complaining. It's just that I don't know what I've done to get this. Thanks though.
The MBL has been going on for two weeks now, but I haven't played a single game yet. (reality check: It's not like they're missing a lot of scoring anyway. hahaha.) SHABA also opened yesterday, "the game" Fritz's team lost while "leave the kids alone" Sinco's team won. I wonder if I'm ever gonna play in SHABA with those two.
I'm glad to see that Jordan's doing well in his first few months in nursing. Hope he invites some of his classmates home. bwahahaha. Nile's doing a lot of extra curriculars at SHS. She's also been filling out college application forms. Horeb's gotten a bit fat, and that's good. He was too thin.
Almost everything's good. It's always nice to be home.
spaced out
July 19, 2007
Last night at about 9, I had to do some deliveries for my Swiss friends. The person I'll be meeting would be at Children's Hospital at Quezon Ave station.
I got in the MRT at Guadalupe station. After a few minutes of train travel, I looked up and saw that I was at Ayala station! Ooops! Wrong direction! I don't know why this happened. Did the MRT switch directions? or was I just so spaced out to notice that I took the wrong train?
By the way, I also got lost when I finally got down the MRT at Qave. I took a jeep all the way to the QC Circle only to realize that the Children's Hospital was very close to the Qave station. I had to walk all the way back.
Oh well.
good to be back
July 18, 2007
It's good to finally be back. Didn't blog this right away because I had more important things to do. I'm just really glad to see faces of friends. Hopefully Im seeing my family this weekend. Gotta get a ticket pa..
Sana maging ok lahat.
losing sleep
July 13, 2007
Due to a lot of thoughts going through my head, the office moving to Libis and other more important things, I haven't been sleeping well. Let's face it. I never sleep well, but in here, it's really easy to do that thanks to the cold wind. The past few nights have been exceptions though.
Some things just bother me. Some things just worry me.
whatever happens, it'll be fine..
bad day, good friends
July 12, 2007
I had a really bad day. First, the pipe at the company apartment broke (see previous entry) and second, I was told that the company would probably move to the very inaccessible Libis.
I knew there I was still better of than the average person. In some ways I still know how to count my blessings. But still, I can't help but feel irritated for a bad day.
It didn't last that long though. As the office day ended (5pm), I posted a YM status sayng "could this day get any worse???". I was glad that there were friends who tried and succeeded to cheer me up. There was Joyce always texting at the right time. There was Jelly, Cami, Pao, Ela Babes, Rtarr, and Ron to cheer me up. (may iba pa ba?) These guys helped me remember how lucky I am.
I wouldn't say that I'm the luckiest man alive, but then I could say that even on a bad day, I still have good friends to count on.
Thanks guys!
broken plumbing
July 11, 2007
I feel really shitty this morning. A bit guilty too.
Breakfast this morning was noodles. I put the pan on the sink and let the water run. I then take a bath. After taking a bath, I saw the kitchen faucet wasn't running anymore. I turned it off, then on again. Still no water. Something was flowing though, and it sounded like it came from somewhere else.
I then went to the office (across the hallway) and I planned to tell Irene when she came in. But then when I went out, the maintenance guy wanted to go inside the apartment. The dude didn't speak english, but I know there was something wrong. Someone from the lower floor probably called in a complaint.
The maintenance guy checked under the kitchen sink and found that the plumbing broke. It was something plastic, and it looked like it was connected to the faucet (which would seem logical).
I don't really know what's going on. The guy is still at the apartment now, and I'm at work. I guess I'll know later when someone explains all this to me in english.
All I know is that something wrong has happened, and I had something to do with it. Ahak.
60 chf
July 9, 2007
60 swiss francs (CHF). That's all I have left to last the entire week. Meals here cost around 20CHF for regular meals to 40CHF for really good ones.
60chf is more than enough if I eat at home though. A loaf of sliced bread costs around 3CHF only. Guess that'll have to do for now. But then I still have some last minute shopping to do…
Good luck na lang
my sassy girl
July 7, 2007
One of the few things I've been doing to kill time here is to download and watch movies off the internet. I remember seeing this movie before (at Lordy/Ely's place) and I absolutely loved it. I downloaded it and saw it for the second time.
The experience was even better than the first time I saw it. Kinikilig talga ako sa mga ganitong movie. Ok, so #1 in my favorite movie list is still Serendipity (nothing better than that). I can say that My Sassy Girl isn't far behind. Love stories like these always lift me up.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, then you SHOULD see it. Sulit talaga sa kilig. pramis!
btw, i think they're making a remake. I don't think it's going to be as good as this one, but we'll see.
fdafds
cold week
July 6, 2007
It's been a very cold week in here. It's hard to go walking around without a jacket, but then if you don't have one, it's still bearable.
Last weekend was sunny. I went up to Uitliberg. It's one of Zurich's highest points. I took some pictures and hit the hiking trails.
the following day, I was at Lake Zurich…
…and last night was the biggest fiesta in Switzerland. Zurifascht happens only once in 3? or 4? years. I was lucky enough to experience it first hand.
It's a lot like scattered concerts everywhere and a lot of small shops. No street parade and procession like we usually have at home though. Here are more pics:
So it's been quite a busy week for me, both in and out of the office. I'm glad that I don't get lost anymore. I also know where to shop (thanks to ate Irene). Cash is running low now. I hope it can last the entire week, especially since shopping is about 90% complete.
In general, it's been quite a good and cold week
knicks have a problem
July 1, 2007Ok, so Zach Randolph went to practice today. That's when the Knicks discovered this:
The court ain't big enough for Z-Bo and Eddy Curry!
for one of them to make post moves in the paint, the other has to stand by the 3-point line!
And for those of you who don't know the Hall of Famer, my favorite GM, Isiah Tomas, here's a pic:
from FoxSports.com, I learned of a few more moves this GM has been doing
In the papers, which were unsealed Friday, Browne Sanders alleges cheerleader Petra Pope told her Thomas encouraged Pope to flirt with officials before a game against the Nets in 2004, the Daily News reported.
"What she told me was that Isiah asked her to go into the referees' locker room and make them happy," Browne Sanders testified.
tsk tsk tsk…
Maybe my favorite GM should have gotten a SF/SG instead.. I mean, they do have David Lee and Renaldo Balkman already. hmmmm..with the way Isiah thinks.. he should get Ricky Davis. He'd be a perfect fit with the Knicks right now.
hehehe. photos taken off the internet
